MAKING UP

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9 NASB)

This is your Monday Short meditation. I’ve heard it said and sung, “Making up is hard to do.” Granted, making up for lost time is very hard to do, especially when the time span behind you, filled with misdeeds, mistakes, mischief, and miscues, is greater than the time span ahead of you. speaking in terms of the days of your life. And I’ll concede that when another party does not operate under the principles of love, forgiveness, and quick reconciliation, it is extremely hard to do.

But listen, making up with God, I mean sincerely making up with the Sovereign One for our sins is easy to do. Whatever you started or whatever you are still doing wrong, just make up your mind to stop and confess your sins with words that reveal true repentance. Yes, it must be done with the uttermost integrity and an uncompromising intention to do your best to live by the Lord’s principles and not by Satan’s invitation, not by the secular world’s persuasion, and not by the fleshly impulsive inclinations that try to swallow up your faith insistence. Friend, make up your mind, after you have made up with God to put righteous living in the place of your crimes against Him. Cling to that commitment after the cleansing that follows your confession. David gives us an example of how to do that in the closing verses.

I need to say one more thing. Don’t think you are so holy that you never need to make up, for all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Therefore, make up your mind to do your best to live holy and to live right this week. Make up your mind to stay God-conscious and Christ centered. Be blessed!

“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with Your willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You.” (Psalm 51:12-13 Modern English Version)

Committed to the climb,
