“The smile of God is the goal of your life.” (Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life)
Some great faculty and alumni of the greatest high school ever, Crispus Attucks High School, in Indianapolis, have gone home to be with the Lord. The other day, I imagined them looking down and smiling at me. Not because I was a class clown that earned the senior class title of “Mr. Crazy,” but because of the fact that they see that their teaching was not in vain.
For example, look at how I apply some of the knowledge they taught me in today’s meditation. Here goes!
I want to thank God for the word that was preached at your church today, and even more thankful that the sent message was like a vector in your spiritual life. Maybe Mr. Payne, Mr. Oldham, Mr. Montgomery, Mrs. Craig, Dr. Taylor, and other extinguished alumni, just maybe they are looking down a smiling that after all these years I remember the meaning of a vector. A vector refers to a force or thrust that causes a change of direction of an object or a drawn line on a graph. I learned that decades ago at Attucks. Maybe, the faculty members I mentioned are looking down and smiling.
More significantly, I hope that other greats, the Teacher, the Heavenly Father are looking down from above, not just at me, but at you too! I hope they are pleased that the Lord’s specific word delivered to you yesterday changed your direction, helped you achieve a higher level of spirituality, and that the same word elevated your walk as a disciple of Christ. I hope they see the vector effect of the word on our lives! Oh, we like to sing, “God Has Smiled On Me,” because of His goodness, His greatness, and His grace, especially as it has been manifested in our personal lives. We like it because the vector effect is evident, for sure. But shouldn’t we think about how we can put a smile on the face of our Savior and the Supreme Father by our actions as we achieve higher levels of holiness because of the vector I am referring to today, the preached we heard yesterday?
Look this was your Monday Short meditation! Now, go forward through this week putting a smile on the Lord’s face. Let him find so much pleasure in what you do and say that He just has to smile! Have a good week! Be blessed!
“And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.” (Hebrews 13:16 NLT)
