MI CASA, SU CASA

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 KJV)

If you were to enter the room that I work out of during most weekdays, you will see six natural wood blocks hanging on the wall, all with imprinted messages that are intended to shape my day or influence the day of anyone who comes in the room and actually reads them.  These blocks are more than décor pieces. The six blocks say, “Love,” “Have Faith,” Shine,” “Believe in You,” Truly Blessed,” and “Family.”  Not one to worry about nail holes in the wall, there are two other wall hangings, large, circular, wooden, engraved signs. On says, “Grandparents, a Blessing from Above” and it has the names of my grandchildren. On the same wall the matching, large, circular, wooden sign that says, “Family is One Of God’s Greatest Masterpieces” and it has the name of my children engraved on it. The table in front of the small loveseat is wooden as well. Does my workspace sound like it lacks color? Well, it doesn’t. There is a blue and orange integrated theme in the room design, as you can tell by looking at the blue lamps adorned with orange lampshades, the orange and blue area rug, the carefully selected coordinating colors of books, the two large glass jars, one orange and one blue, jars that most people will say “serve no purpose,”  a comfortable, subtle pumpkin orange sitting chair, and a couple of blue pillows. This past weekend I added too more pictures, both with dark blue backgrounds and they each say, “Mi Casa, Su Casa.”

Now I said all you just read to focus on the newest design pieces to the room, the blue pictures. They are not merely decorative pieces, but they represent a message to the Divine, an open invitation for the Lord to take ownership in my house. Oh, I am not talking about mortgage related ownership, but rather ownership of mannerisms, matters that must be handled, and the multiple interactions that take places in this house, in person and virtually. “Mi Casa, Su Casa.”  Let me translate in my own words: “My house is the Father’s house.” That’s the goal every day!  That’s the motif or mantra at all times. What is the goal and motif for your house?

Enjoy the surroundings that the Lord has blessed you with, but set out to bless the Lord in return, because while we may receive blessings when we don’t deserve them, the Lord deserves to be blessed at all times. Have a fantastic Friday!  Let this meditation make a difference!  Be blessed!

“I will bless the Lord at all times…” (Psalm 34:1a KJV)
