“Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.”(Mark 9: 35 NLT)
It is Sunday morning! You and I both are ready to hear a word from the Lord. We have waited for this moment where He will send us a specific message by a specific message for a specific purpose! The Lord will have our full attention! We will not only hear the words that penetrate our ears, but we will listen to the words that will penetrate our hearts.
As God speaks to us, He will have our undivided attention, right? We will not be looking at style, but listening to the Sovereign One for a while. We will not be focusing on the speaker’s charisma, but we will be listening to the communication from heaven above. We will not be interrupting our listening with the tendency to critique the speaker, but for the moment this morning, we will listen intently to the tone of the Creator and the truth that He has for us! As we say, “Am I right about it?” I hope so! Today we will experience a special moment!
In the opening verse Jesus tell Peter, James, and John on the Mount of Transfiguration to listen to His Son. I don’t believe that the Father was just saying listen to Christ for the moment or even a special minute. No, He was saying that listening to the Lord should be something that we do for a lifetime. Turning to Jesus and clearly tuning into what He has to say is not a moment thing, but a lifetime thing. So, start this week by committing to not resembling a “moment Christian,” but rather witness through your living that you are a “lifetime Christian,” shaped by the words of the Lord which you hear constantly. You shall hear it in teaching settings, preaching settings, when you settle down to study on your own, and when the Holy Spirit brings to your remembrance what thus saith the Lord. You are a “lifetime Christian: and wherever you set, stand, or walk, you will benefit, you will be blessed, from listening to Him. Enjoy worship this morning and look forward to a wonderful week ahead! Be blessed!
“Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” (James 1:22-24 The Message Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
