“Now when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had frustrated their plan, then all of us returned to the wall, each one to his work. And from that day on, half of my servants carried on the work while half of them kept hold of the spears, the shields, the bows, and the coats of mail; and the captains were behind all the house of Judah.” (Nehemiah 4:15-16 NASB
At our church’s monthly Leadership Council, yesterday, Pastor pointed out four elements that must be evident in our commitment. That is IF we want to complete our work as individuals, as a church, and citizens of heaven.
Before I share them with you knowing that you are about ready to depart for this morning’s worship service, please note that staying committed to the work is not only for leaders at our churches, including yours, but staying committed is something that is a trait that should be seen in all who have stated that they are Christians, followers of Christ. Following Christ, we surely will adopt his words to our willingness to work, our work, and our witness. Jesus said, “I must do the work of Him who sent Me because nighttime is coming when no man can work!”
All of Jesus’s disciples, including you and me, we must stay faithful in helping advance and increase the kingdom of God on this earth.
Pastor did not speak from his own mind. The words he shared were not based on opinion. His “Must Cs” came from his study of the inspired word of God. No, not from opinion, bur from the Omnipotent One, as found in The Book of Nehemiah. Therefore, we must all acknowledge these “Must Cs,” realizing that they align with the will of God. Here is what we have to focus on in order to stay committed:
- Completion of Purpose (Don’t just plan well but be committed to the completion of the work!)
- Clear Perspective (Don’t let things cloud your perspective and distract you from your commitment!)
- Continued Prayer (Support your human effort to do God’s work by seeking the Almighty’s help! Call on Him anytime, from anywhere, and ask for that which will ensure you complete the work!)
- Courageously Persist (Be persistent in the work and persist with courage. Look, when you are doing God’s work, you have One who is willing to aid you! Amen!)
Adopt the “Must Cs” and you will see the Lord do great things in your life and in your church. Have a wonderful worship service. Be blessed!
