“Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing his praises from the ends of the earth! Sing, all you who sail the seas, all you who live in distant coastlands.” (Isaiah 42:10 NLT)
Usually at this time of the year, as we are surfing through channels with our remote, we come across a replay of The Sound of Music. We pause when we hear Julie Andrews singing “My Favorite Things.” And you might even hear one of your grandchildren singing a song to the same music, composing his or her own unique lyrics. The latter is so cute. Actually, that is what inspired me! One of my granddaughter’s was singing about her randomly thought of “favorite things,” as she made up her own words. That moved me to write “My Favorite Things Remix,” today, appropriate at the least for this season. You know the tune, right! Sing along with an instrumental version, and have some fun this Tuesday morning! You will be blessed, and you might be reminded of the true reason for the season!
Father and Son, and Holy Spirit,
Love from above, incomparable merit,
Grace and mercy, the gift of salvation,
The are a few of my favorite things!
Peace on earth and good will to men.
The word that resides, always within,
The church alive still, doing God’s will,
These are a few of my favorite things!
When I’m struggling,
When I’m down,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad!
The strength that God gives, just what I need,
Christ on the cross, for me He did really bleed,
Saved me from hell, this I can tell,
These are a few of my favorite things!
When depressed,
When I’m so stressed,
When bad things make me distressed,
I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad!
There is no one to talk, I beg to differ,
I can call Jesus, talk to the Savior,
When weak I find, power at any hour,
These are a few of my favorite things!
When the holiday blues come a calling,
When I think my spirit is falling,
When memories of past have me reeling,
I simply remember my favorite things, then I don’t feel so bad!
That’s my version “My Favorite Things Remix!” Something a little different? I’ll say so! But now grab some paper and write your personal lyrics. When you finish, smile, praise God, and shout hallelujah! If you get writer’s block, let the verse below stir up your thoughts and help you form your own unique words! Have a great Tuesday! Be blessed!
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8 NASB)
Still committed to the climb,
