One of my favorite songs is, “My Soul Is Anchored In The Lord.” The lyrics sung by Douglas Miller on my recording and rendered by talented members of church choirs, are words that always provide reassurance and raise my level of God consciousness.
One day I decided to find a something in the word of God to substantiate my belief that my soul is anchored. I found the following verses.
“For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear an oath by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “indeed I will greatly bless you and I will greatly multiply you.” And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise. For people swear an oath by [a]one greater than themselves, and with them an oath serving as confirmation is an end of every dispute. In the same way God, desiring even more to demonstrate to the heirs of the promise the fact that His purpose is unchangeable, [confirmed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and reliable and one which enters [f]within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 6:13-20 New American Standard Version)
My soul is anchored in the Lord. How about yours? Now I know you will listen to the song today since I mentioned it, but you should also read the passage above one more time. Be blessed!
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
I did listen to the song. My soul is anchored in the Lord. The scripture is one that I remember reading maybe in one of our studies. It is a bit complicated for a clear understanding. I do see that God is a promise keeper. He did make a promise to Abraham and He has made a promise to us. There are two unchangeable things. Is one of them that “it is impossible for God to lie”, and the other “we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before us”? It is full of knowledge that we should recognize.
