NEW YEAR’S EVE ADVICE

From experience I know how New Year’s Eve can be filled with all kinds of excitement, enticement, and the enjoyment that is found in gatherings where normal behavior is sometimes neglected, the loud music is never rejected, and into your world, all kinds of folks, saved and unsaved can be expected.  Therefore, speaking from past experiences and injecting some spiritual tangents, advice from the word of God, that just might alter the direction that you might be heading tonight and at the same time keep one or “somebody you know” from digressing to the point of displeasing the Lord our God.

Let me give you two pieces of advice.  Are you ready?  (Side note:  Pass them on to your children and your children’s children who are old enough to stay out until the New Year arrives by forwarding this meditation to them.)  Here are the pieces of New Year’s advice, backed up by the Word of God.

Caution #1: Be your sanctified self!  Remember, “Wine makes you mean, beer makes you quarrelsome—a staggering drunk is not much fun.” (Proverbs 20:1 The Message Bible)

Caution #2: Make wise decisions today and tonight!  Serve the Lord by showing the world you have chosen Him!  Remember the words of Joshua and mix them in with your decision-making: If it is displeasing to you to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve, if it should be the gods your fathers served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites’ land where you are now living.  Yet as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  (Joshua 24:15 Modern English Version)

Consider these words as you celebrate the moving into yet a new year!  Be blessed!  Be blessed!  Be blessed!

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
