“Raise your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who brings out their multitude by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26 NASB)
Has the scene I am about to describe ever played out in your days, and you played it off. Let me describe the scene “briefly” since this is your Monday Short meditation. You are at a public place, perhaps walking through the airport to catch a plane, or you are interrupted while shopping by somebody who knows your name, but for the life of you, you cannot remember their name. Just for the record, I think there should be a requirement that when you reach a certain age, you must where a stick-on name tag. I know what you are thinking, and you are right. That won’t even help jog the memory after so many years. That was just a thought to make you smile.
But here is something serious, something that should boost your self-esteem, and something that will let you know that there is no chance that God does not know your name. In the case of God knowing who you are, no name tag is necessary. He knows everything about you.
Listen! Scientists estimate that there are 200 billion trillion stars in the universe. Compare that with the number of people who live on the earth. Once source reported that in March of this year (2025), the earth’s population numbered 8.2 billion people. So, don’t you think that if our omniscient God knows the name of the stars, He knows your name? Let me take it a step further since we are approaching Resurrection Morning (Easter). God not only knows your name, but He sent His only begotten Son to save you! John 3:16 says, “’For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.’” Furthermore, read the closing verse, a reminder of what the Son did for you! Now praise God! Don’t forget to call on His name today!
Our God of grace and mercy knows you, my friend. No name tag is necessary. Hey! I think He is calling you right now, urging you to let Him direct your path this week and reminding you that Jesus is your Savior and your Lord! Be blessed!
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8)
