“Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function].” (I Corinthians 12:27 Amplified Bible)
There were times in our youth when we were given instructions, told to do something expeditiously, without delay and the adults in the house with the authority to tell us what to do ended their instructional command with the word “Now!” “Now” meant right away and there was to be no delay, no discussion, no debate about the sense of urgency that was unmistaken in intent, and of course, there was to be no disobedience. “Now: meant “Now!”
There were other times where there was no need to add the word “now!” Experience had taught us that one could escape discipline or an elongated sit down or down to earth discussion by just following the instruction(s). “Now” was implied, an implicit, unspoken word on such times and our response was to do as we were told immediately.
Why am I focusing on “Now” this Wednesday morning? Perhaps because that was the word on the back side of the Splenda packet that I pulled out today as I prepared an early cup of coffee. (I should be getting an endorsement from the Splenda manufacturer! Just kidding!) I’d rather think that the word “Now” on the packet was to serve a divine purpose, divulge a precise subject for this morning’s meditation.
For you see, “Now” is the time for each of us to focus on fulfilling our purpose. “Now,” at this present time and on this present day, we are to be doing what the Lord has told us to do, collectively, and personally. “Now” is not the time to stray, play, or say, “I’ll do it tomorrow, Lord.” “Now” is not the time to hide the fact that you have been chosen, blessed with a gift, equipped with good news, and not the time to counter by your actions that you are in the world, but not of the world. “Now” is the time to demonstrate precisely, as perfectly as possible where your citizenship lies. And remember while we are waiting for His return, at the present time, “Now” we must work! Don’t merely think about what you just read later on. Think about it “Now!” Respond “Now!” Have a great Wednesday! Be blessed!
“But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.” (Philippians 3:20 NLT)
Still committed to the climb,
