“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)
I’m praying that you read this meditation late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. After reading it, print it out and post it in one or three places in your home. Place # 1: The refrigerator. Remove, temporarily, all the papers and pretty pictures and creative projects the children brought home from school and post this meditation as close as you can to the handle used to open the fridge. Place #2: The bathroom mirror. One of the first things people do is look in the mirror when they go into the bathroom. And even if that is not the first thing they do, if you tape this meditation to the mirror, it will be read before exiting, most likely. Place #3: The dining room table: Place this meditation in a file folder. Write “Private” on it. The curious passersby in the house will see it, let their curiosity get the best of them, look around to check if anyone is looking, and then they will open the folder up to see what is so private. Hopefully, they will read this important message, one inspired by a comment made by a local pastor in the city where I reside. I’ll put it in red so the message will not be missed.
Attention: fathers and future fathers please read this important fact. “If the man in the house comes to church, the family will too.” What you do is important, imperative, and influences the others in the house, especially your children. Don’t send them to church! Don’t say, as they leave for the house of the lord, “See you later, when you get home!’ Don’t set an example that goes against the fact that the short time spent in church will produce long-term benefits. Lead! Set the example! Start your children off in the right direction by taking them to church, and staying, meaning staying attentive and staying awake! Take what you get from the service and re-teach it by word and actions when you get home through the week! (Suggestion: Follow this counsel every week!)
If you are already planning to go to the Lord’s house on the Lord’s Day, great! If you have to alter your plans and come, God bless you for your reaction. You will not regret it!
To all who read this, thank you for your attention. Have a great time at church today! Be blessed!
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NLT Version)
Committed to the climb,
