“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16b)
This is your Monday Short meditation. I was going through an old file cabinet that had been in the corner of the laundry room for years, not moved and never touched. Aside from finding the children’s old school pictures, team photos, and the special academic awards that they had earned, I found a book called “Power Thinking: Top-Down Analysis for The Information Age (Copyright 1991).” I don’t know who that book originally belonged to, but I know for sure it sounded too deep for yours truly.
However, the words “Power Thinking” seemed to be perfect for the start of this week, from a spiritual development perspective, since our power comes from the Lord; top-down. I also think I know a little more about how the “top-down analysis” concept is applicable for believers. To keep it short today, let me just share two thoughts that I think are accurate and appropriate as it relates to “top-down analysis.”
First, all believers need to analyze or evaluate how we are personally living, based on the expectations established for us as expressed in God’s word. Listen! He does sit high (“top”), and we exist on this earthly plane (“down”). Thank God that He is condescending; sits high but looks low! That’s good news! Yet it is excellent way to engage in power thinking, by keeping in mind that the Lord is sovereign, and we need to be submissive to His will; “Not my will, but His will be done.” That works for me. How about you?
Second, believers, we who are experience “down” here: positionally, literally, mentally, economically, or spiritually, we need to look up to the “top,” look to the Lord our God. By doing so, we will be positioned to proceed through this week with much power. Whatever you are going through, go down on your knees and look to the hills from whence commeth our help. When you rise up, similar to the oxen in biblical times, animals that stopped and knelt down for a rest, but when they got up, they were ready, powered-up to do all they were purposed to do. You too will rise up after going from your “down” position, reaching up to the “top “position, and you will feel a new sense of power! Yes! Yes! You will go out this Monday, ready to fulfill your God-given purpose in this age in which we are living.
This was not a publication such as the book referred to above, but I hope you got a point you could use out of this meditation. Didn’t you? Well, I hope so! Have a great day! Be blessed!
