This is your Monday Short meditation. I have two living with their families in the Los Angeles area. Other people I know have family and friends living in LA too. I cannot speak for them, but I would guess that they are no different than me when it comes to praying for Los Angeles in the midst of the raging fires. I think it would be safe to say that our prayer times have increased.
Praying is on the increase. What I have observed during my days on earth is that praying always is on the increase when we face times that produce anxiety, personally, in our community, or nationally. I think I can safely say that the statement, “Praying is on the increase” is true all over the world, in places where there are conflicts and crisis, troubles and where the transfer of powers are creating uncertainty and even worry.
While that is my first observation, I have another observation that takes precedence over what I just said about praying being on the increase. That observation is found in the scriptures. and it says to me that prayer should not be a periodical thing, prompted or produced by happenings, but praying should be an ongoing thing. Read the closing verses and see if you agree. Bless you!
“Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18 The Amplified Bible)
