“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” (Romans 12:1 NLT)
Sitting on the nightstand next to her bed, a young lady has a brass, raised handprint, embossed on a small oblong plaque. It was made before she was one-year old. I won’t share her present age, but I will say that she is the parent of a college age daughter and a high school upperclassman. Yet, her age does not minimize the message that this plaque articulates every morning; a message that makes clear the major lesson that she was taught many years ago when she was a mere toddler by means of a pre-school church song. I’ll share these lyrics with you, because they will indeed serve a purpose of you. They demonstrate in a simple, but string way what one person referred to as “Principles on How to Be a Proper Human Being.” Let the words from this song guide your behavior and take you gently through this day that we have been given to see by the grace of God.
Oh, be careful, little hands, what you do, oh be careful, little hands, what you do. There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love, oh, be careful, little hands, what you do.
Oh, be careful, little eyes, what you see, oh be careful, little eyes, what you see. There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love, oh, be careful, little eyes, what you see.
Oh, be careful, little ears, what you hear, oh be careful, little ears, what you hear. There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love, oh, be careful, little ears, what you hear.
Oh, be careful, little tongue, what you say, oh be careful, little tongue, what you say. There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love, oh, be careful, little tongue, what you say
Oh, be careful, little feet, where you go, oh be careful, little feet, where you go. There’s a Father up above looking down in tender love, oh, be careful, little feet, where you go
Let these principles be manifested throughout the day. Perhaps even look up the song and play it. Maybe even go a step further send them to somebody else so they too can show others how to be a proper human being. Be blessed!
“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” (Philippians 1:27a NIV)
