REAL LOVE!

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (I John 3:18 NLT)

This is your Monday Short meditation. For real this Monday! As you can ascertain from the verse above, when you love others, it is not something merely conveyed with words or sweet-sounding speech that is pleasing to the ears and serves to perk up another’s emotions. Real love is not simply verbalizing a saying that ranks up in the same category as our obligatory “” Hello” as we constantly say, “I love you.” Sometimes that phrase pours out one one’s mouth with a tone that indicates you really mean it, and sometimes it is as quiet as a soft wind, like a whisper that signifies that you are only meeting others’ expectations and desire to hear those three words. Real love is not a phrase used in pursuit of another. Real love is not something revealed on a greeting card or a well-composed note. Well, what is real love? You know the answer! But of not read the opening verse one more time. Dare I tell you, “I love you?” Yes, I think I can! Why? Because I have shown those words to be true, thinking enough of you every morning for nine years and giving you something to meditate on, and move you to be God-conscious and Christ-Centers, always committed to the climb. My sisters and my brother, I love you! Be blessed!

“If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.” (I john 3:14 NLT)

Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King

  1. This is so real. That is a phrase I use often when ending a conversation with a family member. They, too, reciprocate the phrase when ending our conversation and after I say those three words. For family, most of the time, it is believed to be true. When we share that phrase with others such as church family or someone close to you at work, it doesn’t always come across as it does when sharing that with family. I, too, want to express my love for Christ towards others. That love is for real. Thank you for the nine years of helping me become Christ-centered and God-conscious. Bless you.

    1. Thank you for sharing your reflections! Your responses have been great, and I am grateful for your expression of thanks! Be blessed as you continue in a new phase of life where you will experience the cycle of grace. Be blessed Dr. Gloria King!
