REASON TO CELEBRATE

“And David danced before the Lord with all his might and was wearing priests’ clothing. So Israel brought home the Ark of the Lord with much shouting and blowing of trumpets.”(2 Samuel 5:14-15 The Living Bible)

This is your Monday Short meditation. In the verses above, David is celebrating the bringing of the ark home, back to Jerusalem. Among the sacred things inside the ark were the stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments were given by the God. Thus, they are the word of God. David is dancing with all his might, and his celebration is contagious. Did you notice in the text above that others were celebrating with much shouting and the blowing of trumpets. There was reason to celebrate.

As we get closer to the day set aside, not for merely gift-giving, but for magnifying God for giving the world His only begotten Son, Jesus, the Word who took on flesh and dwelt among us. Make sure to celebrate Jesus coming. If you have not been. Christ-focused, bring Him back into your home.

You may have all kinds of decorations and seasonal décor around you house but look past the ornaments and see the One who came to save us. Look past the material things that will soon lose their zeal and see the Lord whose zeal will last forever. Look past the expectations that are building up inside you as you look toward opening wrapped presents and look forward to celebrating the One who came wrapped in swaddling clothes. Let David’s joy be your joy as the Word, the Living Logos, being the center focus in your home. Finally, let your celebrating be contagious. There was reason to celebrate in the verses above and there is even more reason to celebrate Jesus in this season.

Have a great start to the week!  Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Push away any holiday grief, for you have reason to celebrate. Be blessed!

Committed to the climb,

  1. What a day of rejoicing. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Praise the Lord! If only more emphasis was put on the birth of Christ and not the gifts. He is the reason for the season.

    1. I think as we grow older, it is not gifts purchase by friends and family that occupy our thoughts, but rather the gifts given by God the Father and Jesus, the Son. Be blessed!
