SCHOOL IS OUT

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given.  You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.  You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well-constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith.  Now do what you’ve been taught.  School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it!  And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2: 6-7 The Message Bible)

As we were continuing our study in The Book of Colossians Wednesday night, one faithful student read the verses above from her Message Bible.  What she read and the way she read them spoke to me, the teacher, as well as other students.  It was so impressive that I wanted to share it with you this morning.  If you have read it, read it again and see if this does not speak to you just as it specifically spoke to me.  Particularly, I’m referring to the segment of the passage that says, “School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it!”

Go out today, committed to the climb, committed to putting into practice the word of God that you have been taught, and committed to showing that you have received Christ by walking in Him.  Walk in Him in every interaction, every intense moment, and every time your flesh is inclined to take over!  Have a good Friday!  Be blessed!

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.  For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.” (James 1:22-24 ESV)

Still committed to the climb,
