“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!” (Mark 4:35-41 NLT)
I know it’s Friday, but I need to share my personal Thursday meditation with you. Yesterday morning, before darkness had surrendered to daylight, as I sat at my desk, the wind was blowing extremely hard. Gusts were shaking the windows as if they had to get even for some form of mistreatment, and the wind was impersonating to a tee the sound made by largest jet planes. This continued for over an hour. Suddenly, unexpectedly, the wind stopped, and there was perfect, absolute silence for a few moments. The verses above came to my mind as well as one of my favorite songs. I was taken from focusing on the natural elements to focusing on how our God will naturally bring us through the storms of life. This served as my morning meditation. What was the impact on me? All I can tell you is that my first inclination to run to the window in the living room and look outside was abandoned and instead, I looked upward, as to heaven, with a spirit of thanksgiving. I had a reassuring moment that no matter what the day may bring, the Lord will make a way. Praise God. Can I share the words with you? I think they will help you through your day. Here they are! Be blessed!
“I know the Lord…will l make away; oh yes, He will!
I know the Lord…will make away, yes, He will!
He well make a way for you, and He will lead you safely through.
I know the Lord, will make away, yes, He will.
I have a Savior who I can tell all of my troubles too. And when I am burden, and I don’t know just what to do. I go to God in secret prayer, and I just leave, leave all of my burdens right there. I know the Lord. I know the Lord. I know the Lord, He’ll make away, He’ll make away. Yes, He will!”
Hopefully you respond like I did! I was lifted up and I hope you are too! My trust in the Lord to carry me through the day, even in the midst of the storms of life, was awakened early to start my day. My faith pushed aside my fears. My assurance dismissed my anxiety. I hope your trust was also awakened, your faith affected, your assurance strengthened, and your praise could not be withheld by self, surroundings, or situations of any type. Be blessed!
“He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea and would have passed by them. But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out. For they all saw Him and were troubled. Immediately He spoke to them and said, “Be of good cheer, it is I. Do not be afraid. Then He went up to them in the boat and the wind ceased. They were greatly astonished in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.” (Mark 6:48-51)
Still committed to the climb,
