SHOW ME!

“For the first time in over two decades, men attend church more frequently than women, according to Barna’s State of the Church 2025 report. The shift began in 2022 and continues into 2024, with 30% of men attending weekly compared to 27% of women. This reverses a trend that had women leading attendance rates since 2000.” (Quote from FaithonView Publication)

The report above reveals that men are attending church more frequently than women. I don’t doubt the accuracy of the statistics above, but unless my ability to count has decreased with age, much like sight deteriorate as you get older, I have not seen this shift in most of the churches I have attended. Do I want to see it? Of course!

Why? Listen! If men come to church, young males will have more Christian role models to follow and the erroneous though that church is not for “real me” can be negated.  Are you listening? If more men come to church, it is highly likely that others, male and female, in the household will come as well.  Keep listening! If more men come to church, it will be like it was in my days when my family had a plan to secure “our pew.” We knew exactly where to go after Sunday School was dismissed and our strategy worked. Oh, I would like to see more men sitting with their family on “their pew” and worshipping the Lord, openly and with sincerity of heart. Homes will be better! Communities will be better!  Cities will be better! And the trend of men leading in church attendance will be perpetuated in future generations.

To keep the aforementioned trend going, we don’t need more men born than women in the coming years. No! We just need more born-again men in the church. Men can start attending and grow in regard to attending to the things of God, including kingdom building work.

I have a two-word challenge for every man that reads this, either because they checked the markwritesdaily.com site or because you shared the content of this meditation with the unchurched men in your orbit of family and friends. The two-word challenge is comprised of the words in the title, “Show Me!” Now, go share this with some brothers and see if anyone accepts the challenge. Am I trying to engage you in evangelizing? Yes, I am!

Before I close, I’m sure you notice that I didn’t make this a part of the “I Want What He Has” series that I used as a theme the last few days. But for continuity, when I consider Joshua’s last words in the closing verse, I can still say, “I Want What He Has!” Read the verse! Have a great day in worship tomorrow! Sit with your husband, your boyfriend, your sons and let the trend reported above continue! Be blessed!

If you decide that it’s a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you’d rather serve—and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshiped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you’re now living. As for me and my family, we’ll worship God.” (Joshua 24:15 The Message Bible)
