“STILL”

“I will raise my eyes to the mountains; from where will my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.  He will not allow your foot to slip; He who watches over you will not slumber.  Behold, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord is your protector; The Lord is your shade on your right hand.  The sun will not beat down on you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.  The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time and forever.” (Psalm 121 NASB)

We like it when we cross paths with our old high school classmates and they flatter us with the comment, “You still look the same.”  We break out with a smile, perhaps even blush for a while, and we want to believe that if we were to compare photos of them and now, they would not be very different.  Usually, that is not the case.  However, we are not down, depressed, or deflated because of the physical differences that we detect.  Not at all, because we are still in the land of the living.  We have still been blessed by the Lord we still standstill at the times we need to be still and know that the Lord, He is God.  It is He, that had made us and not we ourselves.

Look at the passage above and insert the word “still” in front of the what the Psalmist has to say.  When you get through, you will still feel like going on with a sense of spiritual energy!  Let me help you do the inserting of “still” right now.  Imagine these are your words.  Actually, I hope you can go beyond imagining and rather you are merely indicating some truths as they apply to you.

Now add a little more!  “Still – I realize that the Lord has smiled on me!  Still – I know how to wait on the Lord for He is about to bless me even more!  Still – I am assured that His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me!  Still – I am secure in the hands of the Lord, and I shall not be snatched out of His mighty hand!  Still – it is true, I cannot tell how in all the ways that the Lord has been good to me!  Still – no matter what I must face today and all my days ahead I will praise God and bless Him at all times!”
