STOP WAITING FOR IT!

“The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So, the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “The host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now! “This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.” (John 2:1-11 NLT)

You may be waiting for the best days of the rest of your life. You may be waiting for the best thing that will ever happen in your life to come. By the way, just as a side note, an important one, and maybe a spoiler alert to my conclusion, but recall that Rev. James Cleveland once sang, “Jesus is The Best Thing That Happened to Me.” Think about that, my friend! Now, let me get back to this “waiting on the best” topic.

You may be waiting for the best years of your career, the best break in life, the best relationship one could ever find.

In all those cases, you have tried things that were, let’s say, diluted, watered down, and they did not meet your standard to be labeled with the distinction as “the best.” Your wild, youthful, days, may not be the best days of your life. Your waning, older days, may not be the best days of your life. Perhaps you have moved up rung after rung on the ladder of success, but it is possible that you may not have escalated to height where you can say that you are experiencing the best days of your life. Your life may have been filled with one bad break after the other and you may be wondering when the best will come, if ever. Your primary relationship, even if the fire is still burning or there is just a tiny sparkle that remains, might lack something that denies that relationship the right to be described as the best.

Listen! If you have been waiting for “the best” and you have been encouraged to “Wait for it, wait for it,” let me tell you something to the contrary this Saturday morning in four simple words, “Stop Waiting for It!”

Yes, stop waiting for it and turn to the One who has the prerogative to make all things new. Turn to the One who has the authority and power to transform “without” to “with!”  Turn to the One who can convert poor substances, poor situations, or poor state of mind, into good. Again, I say, stop waiting for it and bring Jesus into the picture. For you see, when you bring Jesus into the picture, the best will be experienced, especially if you live by His teachings. You see, Jesus saves the best to last, or should I say until when at last you turn to Him in this life. The best still awaits you. Jesus can change your condition, change your perception, and change your recognition of His blessings on you.

Finally, as it relates to the ultimate truth for believers, Jesus is saving the best for last, when He ushers you into the Father’s house. You know, the one with many mansions. I heard another song once, and it is always applicable, and the lyrics always lift me up. The song, sang by Donald Lawrence, is entitled, “The Best Is Yet to Come.” So, hang on in there, my friend. Be blessed!

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” (John 14:1-3 NLT)

Committed to the climb,
