SUPPORT CHECK

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”.” (Hebrews 13:5 The Amplified Bible)

It’s time for your Monday Short meditation!  It was easy to write, thanks to a conversation I overheard at a big box store, a dialogue between two customer service clerks.  One clerk asked the other clerk who was doing more wandering than working, “Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?” I was amazed, but wondered about the accuracy of the clerk’s work as she seemed completely confident in her ability to multi-task, ringing up groceries and engaging in a personal conversation at the same time.  Look, I was not meddling.  I was just making use of my senses to observe. Okay?

The clerk that was on the clock but wasting time and affecting the attentiveness of the clerk working the register replied, “I have to wait for my support checks to come.  They have not been made for two months!” The clerk running the cash register said, “I feel you sister!” Then she boldly said, “You better call the office and, get this now, call on the Lord.”  The store clerk that was stacking, and probably should have been bagging said, “I don’t believe all that “God” stuff.”  The multi-tasking cash register clerk adds one more task to her activity, being a witness for the Lord.  Witnessing, she says, “You need to check-in with the Lord and get right with God.  He will never leave you without support or a sense of helplessness.  You will be foolish not to do so.” The one clerk who could have at least helped with the bagging walked away.  You could see her shaking her head, signifying a strong sarcastic reply. You can picture, can’t you?  You have probably experienced the same reaction at some time or the other.

Yes, we all know some people like the clerk who did not believe in God or who has not acted like God is supreme, sovereign, and superior in all ways.  So, why not send them this meditation today.  You will be starting your week with an obedient evangelistic, witnessing way.  Have a marvelous Monday.  Forward the email! Be blessed!
