GOD IS NOT A BENCHWARMER

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17 New King James Version) At all levels you will see something entertaining at basketball games. I’m not talking about what happens between the lines, but I am talking about something that happens off the court, on the sidelines. No, I’m not talking about the enthusiasm of the crowds...

DO YOU THINK THAT GOD JUST BLESSES WOMEN?

ByDr. Mark September 28, 2025 2 Comments
“O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God,    don’t forget a single blessing! He forgives your sins—every one. He heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.    He renews your youth—you’re always...

I WANT WHAT HE HAS #3

“Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God.” (Author Unknown) In the room I refer to as my home office, there are several pictures and wall hangings. There are four framed pictures all with a bible verse written on an olive-green background. They are not just for décor, not just to coordinate with the colors of other articles is the room, but they serve...

IT IS NOT SO WITH GOD

ByDr. Mark May 1, 2025 0 Comments
According to sources, Abraham Lincoln is credited with a well-known saying regarding deception. In 1858 during a political debate, Mr. Lincoln said, “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” The saying is well said, but the truth in what Lincoln said about deception cannot be applied to the Almighty...

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NASB) I prayed for the Lord to give me something specific to write specifically to you at this specific time. God is a prayer hearing and a prayer answering God. This is how He answered me in a sequence of things. Several months ago, I had found an old cassette tape on which my...

“Raise your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who brings out their multitude by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26 NASB) Has the scene I am about to describe ever played out in your days, and you played it off. Let me describe the scene...

THE MESSED-UP MAGAZINE

ByDr. Mark April 9, 2025 0 Comments
Monday morning was messed up, for real! I didn’t sleep well thinking about the fact that the bottom level of our tri-level had been flooded by the amount of rainfall we received Wednesday through Saturday last week, raining a total that equaled about one and one-half the total our city typically receives for the whole month of April. Ironically, I had just taught a lesson from the biblical...

YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3 NASB) There was a crew of sewer repairmen working a couple houses down the street from where I live. I heard the noise of a truck and went to look out the living room window to see what was going on. I saw three men in bright, florescent green vests and a couple of co-workers wearing...

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT GOD IS DOING UNTIL HE HAS DONE IT!

ByDr. Mark March 1, 2025 0 Comments
I had two conversations on the same day this week. In both conversation I used the same phrase, identical to the words in today’s title, “You don’t know what the Lord is doing until He has done it!” In the last conversation the person I was talking with expressed how the daily news produces anxiety and a curiosity about what the future holds for us. Seriously I said, “It’s only a few...

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NASB) Before you read any further, I want you to share a fact with you; a fact that will help you understand the meaning behind the content that follows. This fact will also help you appreciate that you are one of the chosen. Fact: Scientists estimate that Earth contains 7.5...
