“Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.” (Proverbs 9:9 NLT)
In the early 70’s individuals about ready to graduate from college with a degree in education were informed that only 4 out of seven would get a job teaching at a public school. That’s sure changed today, as evident by the increased efforts to recruit teachers. There are teaching openings!
Long before the early seventies, but including that time, young girls and young boys got “the talk,” usually from their parents. Today, just based on my observation, the same type of talks are not happening. So in our homes, there is a need for teachers. There are teaching openings.
Many churches have abandoned Sunday School altogether and not just because of the pandemic or endemic, but they ended the focus on Sunday School because parishioners who had the skills or gifts to teach were reluctant to volunteer because it seemed to them that once committed it would be a life-long commitment. What’s wrong with that? In my opinion, it is a life-changing and life sustaining commitment. I think I am correct when I say, “There are teacher openings” even in our churches. Listen, the faithful few cannot do everything!
Looking at our society, focusing in on persons between the ages of 18-30, there is a lost generation because the preceding generation did not adhere to the Lord’s admonitions to teach their children about the word of God. Don’t panic! There is still time to change the direction of young people going in the wrong direction, but to do that they need instruction in righteousness. There are teaching openings.
The toddlers and primary age students who love coming to church at their tender ages must be taught about the necessity of not forsaking the assembly of the saints as they are blessed with years, and do not forget the value of God’s word, a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Toddlers and primary age students need to be taught now as opposed to later, a time that might be too late. But guess what? Right! There are teaching openings.
In your daily walk; in your living like a Christian ought; in your everyday talk; in the behavior that you model; in the priority that you give to kingdom building work; in the denying of yourself, picking up your cross and following Jesus daily; in the living out the similitudes given by Christ telling us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, you can fill one of the many teaching openings that our society has available. There are teacher openings. By the way, nobody is too old to be taught. Nobody is to wise that they don’t need to still be taught! Nobody is so righteous that they do not still need teaching. Pass this along and help somebody! Help our world! Be a teacher! Fill one of the openings. There are teaching openings. Be blessed!
“Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-8 MSG)
Still committed to the climb,
