“Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” (Luke 19:30b-31 NASB)
You are familiar with the passage above, reporting on the time, recalling the Sunday that leads to the Friday where Christ died for us on the cross. Yes, you are acquainted with this account where Jesus sends two disciples to get a colt for his entry into Jerusalem, symbolic of Him bringing peace and contradictory to their thought that He had come to be a militaristic, conquering king.
Let’s look at the latter words in the Scriptures that I have used above where the Lord says, “You shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” How will this be helpful? Let me help answer that question.
When you are trying to bring someone who has strayed from the flock back to the church, and they question if their attendance is necessary, you reply, “The Lord has need of it.”
There will be a time where you notice an unchurched person with a unique talent; a talent that can become a gift with the aid of the Holy Spirit, the really One gift given to us by Jesus; a gift that changes our perspective regarding talent, and that persons says, “You all are doing find without my talent.” Then, you respond, “The Lord has need of it.”
Perhaps you will come across a person who is not unsaved but is unchurched. In this case, be proactive and tell them, “God has blessed you all your days. He has given you a personal testimony.” And after they finally acknowledge that the Lord has indeed brought them through something or more like through many things during their life, in regard to their testimony tell them, “The Lord has need of it.”
The young adult that was made to go to church when they were dependents and now are independent, well, somewhat true, he/she does not feel their presence makes a difference anymore, tell them the same thing: “The Lord has need of it.”
Now, I doubt that I need to tell you, the same thing for any reason, whether it be the use of your time, talent, or treasures for the building of God’s kingdom, but just in case let me say it to you, “The Lord has need of it.”
Read this again! React to it over and over again! For we have been sent out just as Jesus sent out the two disciples in the opening text. If you doubt me, revisit the Great Commission in the closing verses. Put this word into action today! Why? “The Lord has need of it.” Be blessed!
“Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 The Amplified Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
