THE BELIEVERS LAW OF ATTRACTION

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.  God is not a secret to be kept.  We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.  If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you?  I’m putting you on a light stand.  Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!  Keep open house; be generous with your lives.  By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 The Message Bible)

Dr. Wayne Dyer, an American self-help author and motivational speaker who lived between 1940-2015 can be credited with the following quote, a saying that reveals one perspective about the Law of Attraction: “The law of attraction is this: You don’t attract what you want.  You attract what you are.”

A Pinterest quote I received in a text expanded on this perspective.  It says, “You attract what you are, not what you want.  If you want great, then be great.”

Three thoughts came to my mind.  First, I recalled how I encourage Christians in personal evangelism with a similar conclusion.  In so many words, I say, “To be effective in witnessing, try attracting people who are like you in one way or the other, or who are living like you used to live before Christ came into your life, because you have the best chance, better than anyone else, of recruiting them into the kingdom.”  Second, I thought of the verse above, one in which we incorporate in our dialogue with others, revealing what we are and whose we are, “It is not I , but the Christ who lives in me.”  Third, I came up with what I will call “Our Law Of Attraction.”

Our Law of Attraction: “If you want to attract others to be a true disciple of Christ, then you live like a true disciple of Christ.”

Think about what you have read in a short time, react to the content sincerely, and realize surely, that you can recruit and retain disciples in the kingdom of God.  Have a great Wednesday!  Be blessed!

And He (Jesus) was saying to them all, ‘If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’” (Luke 9:23 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,
