THE BEST IS YET TO COME

“But as it is written, ‘Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.’” (I Corinthians 2:9 KJV)

As you travel down city streets filled with traffic and seasoned with more than a dash of those seasonal terrors called potholes; as you maneuver through the main, monstrous highways that stretch from one end of the country to the next, and as some stimuli sends you back in times that have speedily gone by, you find yourself focusing, prompted by the stimuli, on some good memories.  Oh yes, bad memories try to occupy your consciousness, but you kick them to the curb so that you think of good things, good times, good people, and good tidings of comfort and joy.  You can be accused of slightly looking at the bad memories.  While we are not innocent, we only find our guilty state in the fact that at times, our memories are stirred up regarding that which we would rather forget, only for the purpose of praising God for all He has brought you through and giving Him the glory for how He changed you and made you better.  You ought to say, “Thank you Lord!” right now!  Right now, wherever you are standing, wherever you are sitting, or even while you are driving your vehicle to a certain destination, say it aloud, “Thank you Lord!”

Oh we can look back and flood our minds with good memories of times past, and all the good that the Lord has done to bring us this far, but there is one thing I need to tell you, that is if you love the Lord.  Do you love the Lord?  Well be encouraged!  Be lifted up to that place where joyful anticipation monopolizes your thinking!  Why?  I’ll tell you why!  The best is yet to come!  You will experience the best in your future as you travel through this journey; the best level of faith, the best deliverance from that which tries to bring you down like nothing else has ever done before, the best level of confidence that nothing can move you from your faith!  I don’t need to tell you, but I will anyway.  In the life to come, the best awaits us and will be our blessing through eternity.

Have a wonderful Saturday and keep that in mind!  Regardless of your circumstances, know that there is a brighter day ahead!  Say it to yourself, “The best is yet to come!”   Elevate your spirit and say it again, “The best is yet to come!”

Now don’t forget the assembly of the saints tomorrow.  I know you won’t, right?  As I did yesterday, I reached back to an old song, one I remember a quartet made up of four young men in the church singing decades ago, and I felt the opening lyrics to be appropriate for sharing them with you as our closing thought.  Be blessed!

“There is a brighter ahead for Jesus has said, if by Him we will be led. There’s a brighter day ahead

Still submitted to the clim,

Mark L. King
