“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4 KJV)
Preparing for my early cup of coffee, I noticed that the back of my Splenda packet this morning. In bold print it said, “Short and Sweet.” So I will make sure this morning’s meditation meets that suggested criteria, short and sweet. Below is a short quiz where you can determine which category of “busy-bodies” that describes you, as determined by your honest assessment. Check the appropriate option that fits you.
- Busy body A: (Dictionary definition) A meddling or prying person. Synonyms include meddler, gossiper, interferer, and trouble maker.
- Busy-body B: One who is totally dedicated to their secular work; labors at his/her place of employment, as well as home. This person’s total focus is on work.
- Busy-body C: (a) A person who would earn the following commendation from the Master for being good stewards of all that He has left you responsible for, including our treasure, time and talents, the family we have been blessed with, and His church. (If you chose this one, and you are pressing on, in spite of what’s going on, you are an individual who could make the Apostle Paul’s words their own: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”)
How did you do on the test? Did it cause you to think about yourself just a little? Aa you pondered did you think about any change(s) that is necessary? Did you have the same mindset that Jesus expressed in the opening verse? Surely you would not fall into the “some” referred to in the closing verse below, right? My work was short and sweet this morning. Now, on the other hand, your work may require a little more time as you ponder about your own busy-body character. Smile! Be blessed!
