“Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me.” (Philippians 3:13 Easy-to-Read Version)
You set a goal to be better at the beginning of the week. I say that with confidence because I am sure that all worshippers do just that after being in the special presence of the Lord on Sunday, and hearing a special message that revealed each one of us had one or some needs improvement areas to work on.
Perhaps Monday, you felt that you came close to meeting you goal, even exceeding expectations. After Tuesday, you might have felt you had done an even better job of realizing your goal and you gave yourself an outstanding rating.
Well, today is Wednesday, and there is one thing I know for sure. This is what I know. Doing even better in improving your walk as a Christian is a goal that is always before us. Yes, it is always ahead of us. So don’t rest or relax, but realize, recognize that more work is required on your sanctification journey.
I have to inform you, to no surprise I’m sure, that striving for better and nullifying needs improvement areas in our lives as we press on toward the mark, it requires exerting effort every day. It’s an ongoing thing in this life and continues until we reach our heavenly home. Have a great day! Be blessed!
“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” Philippians 3:12-14 The Message Bible)
