THE LITTLE GIRL’S STORIES: A TRILOGY

“The Lord is your protector, and he won’t go to sleep or let you stumble.  The protector of Israel doesn’t doze or ever get drowsy.  The Lord is your protector, there at your right side to shade you from the sun.  You won’t be harmed by the sun during the day or by the moon at night.  The Lord will protect you and keep you safe from all dangers.  The Lord will protect you now and always wherever you go.” (Psalm 121:3-8 Contemporary English Version)

Here is a trilogy, three true stories from the life of a little girl.  Take a few minutes and read this trilogy.

During the days before school closings were announced on TV and prior to closing information being accessible via personal computers or phones, on an extremely cold winter day, a day when darkness did not get the memo that it was time for daylight to rule the skies and when the snow apparently had no limits placed on it in terms of a limited depth, a little girl, a second grader, walked to her elementary school, each step requiring a great effort.  The school was several blocks away.  When the little girl arrived, she was informed by the principal that the school was closed due to weather.  There was no offer to take her home.  There was no invitation to use the phone to call for a ride home.  Therefore the little girl had to tread through the knee-deep snow one more time to return to the warmth and safety of home.

The same little girl, each day of school, sat on the floor in the school gym by herself eating her lunch.  There was no cafeteria.  All the other students lived close enough to the school to go home for lunch.  The walk for the little girl was too far to go home.  So the gymnasium was her transformed into her own personal cafeteria.  This was her routine every school day.  The good news is that she was safe.  No one attacked her, assaulted her, or attempted to disrupt her safety.  Was that a blessing?  Of course!

The years went by, and the little girl became a woman.  She had relocated far from her hometown where the school was located.  After driving up to visit family with her toddler age daughter, on the return trip, again at a time where darkness and hard-blowing snow prevailed, the one-time little girl’s car stopped on the highway, some thirty miles away from her home at the time.  Sitting in the stalled vehicle, car after car passed her by.  Suddenly a pick-up truck stopped, and the driver offered to help.  Unable to get the car started, he graciously volunteered to take the one-time little girl, now a young woman, and her daughter all the way to her home.  But first he said that he had to stop at his house and inform his wife what he was doing.  This story is starting to sound scary, isn’t it?  Well, everything worked out alright and the kind man took the two stranded travelers, home.  The one-time little girl was not harmed, harassed, or subject to hurt during this experience.  She was safe, again!  She experienced another blessing, again!

Whether she realized it or not, it was the Lord who saw her safely through all three of her experiences I described; all through the trilogy I depicted above.  Yes, it was the Lord who watched over her going out and coming back in!  It was the Lord who showed that your age does not make a difference, He is ageless, and we can be assured that He will protect His little lambs and older sheep too.  Keep that in mind as you go through your day this Thursday morning.  Pray for the Lord to see you through!  Be blessed!

I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won’t be afraid.  You are with me, and your shepherd’s rod makes me feel safe.” (Psalm 24:4 Contemporary English Version)

Still committed to the climb,
