THE LORD’S ADDENDUM

“It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.”(Luke 24:1-9 NASB)

The April 11 meditation was entitled, “Have A Good Day.”  You can refer back to what was written on that day if you choose to do so.  But the important thing om this Friday morning, the thing that makes me marvel, is that when the Lord has something to say, He speaks to us through a specific messenger who is empowered by the Spirit of God.  Case in point, it did not matter what I had in mind, He the Lord took over, and thus today’s meditation is precisely as I have entitled it above, “The Lord’s Addendum.”  Think about what the Lord is doing!  He is equipping us in regard to responding appropriately and accurately when someone uses the alternative greeting, “How are you doing?,” in place of “Have a good day!”

I know you are ready for it and are in haste, ready to hurry and fast forward, skipping this paragraph.  But hold on for a minute, please.  Let me lead up to the addendum by explaining how it was sent to me to assume the role of today’s specific messenger.  While making up the bed, no simple task when you have multiple pillows, pillow shams, a coverlet that has to cover the sheets perfectly even on both side, a decorative throw that has to be placed just right, and a decorative storage box in the form of a large book that has to be placed precisely how it should be positioned, in the middle of the bed on the middle dark line.  I took a detour didn’t I?  Well, you know me by now.  Smile!  Back to the explanation.

I watched three different preachers yesterday morning.  One was the pastor of a mega church.  Another was a Bible teacher whose program comes on daily.  And the last was the Rabbi who teaches on “Jewish Jesus by Rabbi Schneider.”  The latter of the three messenger delivered the Lord’s addendum as part of his teaching.  It contained something specific that would serve a specific purpose when someone asks us, “How are you doing?”  Based on the addendum, this is how we should respond, “Better than I deserve.”

That’s the Lord’s addendum, a relevant truth that provides us with the right perspective when we are blessed to see another day, and someone poses the alternative greeting above.  You know His mercy!  You know He did not give us what we truly deserved from something or somethings we did not do right just the day before!  You know He looked past our faults and saw our needs!  You know he noticed our failings, but His love for us never failed!  You know that we have no right to complain!  The Lord has let our days roll on!  It is just a blessing to see another day!  Amen!

Get happy!  Thank the Lord!  Praise Him right now on this Friday morning.  It is a good day!  Remember why!  We are doing better than we deserve!  Acknowledge the truth!  Since you are marching to Zion, the beautiful city of God, hear the closing verse speak specifically to you.  You and me both are better than deserved!  Be blessed!

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
