THE LOST IN THE HOUSE

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:8-10 NIV)

In the 15th Chapter of Luke, we see three cases of lostness: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. For a moment, focus on the lost coin before you leave the house this morning, or if you don’t get a chance to read this until you get home, pause and ask yourself these two important questions: (1) Is there anybody living in my house that is lost? (2) Are there any folks I know who come to the church house often, perhaps even every Sunday, but since they have never accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord, they remain lost? (3) Is there anyone in my house who has lost their zeal for the Lord and who have drifted away from being in the assembly of the saints?

Thanks for answering these questions truthfully. Your integrity is indeed appreciated. However, while I have your attention, something that is keep when the meditation is short, let me just ask one more serious question. The question: Are you going to be like the woman in the text and search for those who are in the house, but are lost? I hope you said, “Yes!”  And I pray that you help that person or those people go from lost to found. Have a great Thursday. Be blessed!

“Rescue the perishing, duty demands it – strength for your labor the Lord will provide; back to the narrow way patiently win them, tell the poor wanderer as Savior has died.” (Lyrics from Rescue the Perishing by Fannie Crosby, 1869)
