THE NUMBERS TELL US WHY

Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got! Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9 The Message Bible)

We wake up every morning, usually turn on the morning news, only to hear, more times than not, of reports regarding tragic happenings involving children under 18, We ask, “Why?” The answer to that one-word question is not challenging, not at all. It is not because of a need for new programs, new places for youth to go, or new policing strategies. You see, a recent study showed that only 31% of parents with children under 18 attend church once a week. The number not only does not lie, but they also tell us why the news reports alluded to in the opening sentence are happening as they have never happened before.

My assumption, based on the percentage above, is that many parents are not setting example and stressing the point that that regular church attendance is important.  We have abandon adhering to the world and by default, we give our children over to morals, values, standards, and acceptable behaviors as defined by the world, as opposed to the Creator of the world.

Our generation has to do a better job. I hope you agree and act on your agreement by sharing with mothers and fathers who you know need to read what I have written above. Help counter or cancel some bad news with the good news. Be blessed!

“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NLT)

Committed to the climb,
