THE POST-IT NOTE

“Love is patient, love is kind.” (I Corinthians 13:4a NIV)

As I sat waiting for the hospital representative to schedule my next annual visit, I observed about 8-9 small, multi-colored, Post-It Notes on her in-and-out basket. I read all of them while I patiently waited. Just as a side note, I do not have to go back and ask the representative to forgive me for holding out the patience she deserved. I was patient and kind. Those are characteristics of love as I recall from reading the word of God in I Corinthians 13, right! And, on top of that Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Go ahead and say it, “Good job, Mark!” One of the Post-It Notes said, “I hope I experience something good today!” In my mind I thought, “There is something wrong with that note.”

If you are asking what was wrong with it, just hold on for one second! I’ll tell you! I think the note should have said something different, especially if one was looking for some morning inspirations or stimulating input to provide momentum at the start of the day, I think it should have said, “Something good has already happened for me today?”  Why so? Oh, you are full of questions, but listen, I’m not short on answers. Smile!

Something good had already happened because the Lord woke her up and let her see another day. Something good had already happened because we all benefit from God’s grace and mercy every single day. Something good had already happened because she arrived safely to her workplace. Something good had already happened because she had a job; had a workplace to go make a living. Something good had already happened because she had a reasonable portion of health and strength. Something good had already happened because she was still clothed in her right mind. I could go on, but don’t you think I gave you enough reasons in answering your question?

Today is a new day for you! Make your own Post-It Note and stick it on your desk where others can see it. If you don’t work, stick it on the bathroom mirror in your house, a place where we look at ourselves multiple times during the day. Make sure your handwritten note says, “Something good has already happened for me today!” Add a P.S. that says, “Just ask me!”

Love you!  Enjoy your good day!  Be blessed!

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 King James Version)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
