“But Jesus looked at them and said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26 The Amplified Bible)
It seems like it is becoming a trend. Once again, since the Monday Short meditation was not short at all, I have to do an “owe you one,” short meditation on Tuesday. It’s all good though!
As I was waiting for our fried perch dinners Friday night, I read most of the signs in the restaurant that specialized in fried fish, shrimp, and other delicious foods desired by others. I don’t eat frog legs, for example. So, instead of just staring at the front desk, hoping that I would hear my name called signaling that I was the “winner” among others waiting and I could pick up my order, I decided to read the signs and plaques on the wall. One of the wooden signs said, “The difference between impossible and possible is determination.” My immediate response was that self-determination is definitely necessary to accomplish anything good in this world; a world is filled with plethora of wrong that opposed that which is right. Still thinking of tasks that I have to do in kingdom building for Jesus, and in terms of any Christian’s continuous personal growth, I agreed that determination was extremely essential to ensure one achieves their purpose and to extend the effort to progressively grow as child of God. Our spiritual development, aiming toward perfection, never ends in this life. Still thinking, I deviate for reasoning and repeat the word of a song in my mind, “I am determined to follow Jesus.”
As I continued focusing on this one sign and process what it means to me, I rephrased the saying in my mind to read as follows: “The difference between impossible and possible is God.” He is the real difference maker. I can be determined, but without Him I really would fail. Think about it! Be blessed!
“Had it not been the Lord who was on our side…” (Psalm 124:1a NASB)
Still committed to the climb,
