THE “SHORT” MONDAY

“When they came down from the mountain, the disciples stood with Jesus on a large, level area, surrounded by many of his followers and by the crowds.  There were people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Sidon.  They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those troubled by evil spirits were healed.  Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone.  Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said…” (Luke 6:17-20a NLT)

This Monday will not be short literally, it will still have twenty-four hours.  But I keep trying my best to make the Monday meditation short so that you can massage the specific message that God sent through His specific messenger, specifically to you, yesterday.  (Go back over your sermon notes.)

In the text above we see that a great multitude came to Jesus.  Unlike we do,  he did not make up excuses to avoid attending to their needs.   You know how we do!  “Tell them I’m not at home.”  “Be quiet and maybe they will go away.”  “I just got off work, let me be.”  “Can I get back to you?  I’m tired!”   There were no excuses offered up by Jesus; no exempting Himself from being about His purpose.  He healed them and He helped them.  He used His power to remedy their troubles and to reveal sayings that would enable the people to operate by divine principles versus any mistake laden, man-made doctrines and tenets, and even their own opinions.  How is man’s opinion going to supersede the omniscient principles of the Lord?  I’s not possible.

Let the above just be understood in the context of our text, but note the underlying point that I want to leave with you.  The people came to Jesus, because even in His early ministry, He had demonstrated that He we available, accessible, approachable, and He had authority over actual and figurative demons, over diseases, over defilements, and over defectiveness. and these people found that their travel to see Jesus, many coming from long distances, would be well worth while.  They got to Jesus!

Go start your day.  And regardless of what type of distance you have to overcome: spiritual, emotional, psychological, economical, and even geographical as it relates to where you are right now in comparison to heaven above; regardless of the distance you may have to cross over or come through, get to Jesus!  Have a great mindset today and get to Jesus!  Then there will be no question about you having a great Monday!  Be blessed!

“There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:  No, not one! no, not one!  None else could heal all our souls’ diseases: No, not one! No, not one! Jesus knows all about our struggles; He will guide ’til the day is done: There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:  No, not one! no, not one!”

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
