“The Philistine (Goliath) ridiculed David. “Am I a dog that you come after me with a stick?” And he cursed him by his gods. Come on,” said the Philistine. “I’ll make roadkill of you for the buzzards. I’ll turn you into a tasty morsel for the field mice.” David answered, “You come at me with sword and spear and battle-ax. I come at you in the name of God-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God of Israel’s troops, whom you curse and mock. This very day God is handing you over to me. I’m about to kill you, cut off your head, and serve up your body and the bodies of your Philistine buddies to the crows and coyotes. The whole earth will know that there’s an extraordinary God in Israel. And everyone gathered here will learn that God doesn’t save by means of sword or spear. The battle belongs to God—he’s handing you to us on a platter!” (I Samuel 17-47 MSG) “That’s how David beat the Philistine—with a sling and a stone.” (I Samuel 17: 50 MSG)
A father gave his 9-year-old son a bicycle one day. It was not one of those fat-wheel bikes for children of his juvenile age and size, but it was a Schwinn, skinny, 26-inch, grown man’s bicycle. The son was delighted with the gift, but he had difficulty getting on the bike, and strategically relied on the front porch steps to mount it. Sounds like the boy had a solution, right? Well, there was one problem. He could not reach the pedals. Being innovative, the son decided to put one leg through the space under the top bar of the bike and ride with his body contorted from one place to the other. In spite of the need to conform to an odd riding style and what chiropractors would call a horrible position, he adapted and became very able to get from one place to the other. The skinny wheel bike presented a big challenge, but the son became the champion over the challenge.
Most of us are over our bike riding days, well perhaps I should say many of us are over such days. But regardless of our age, our height, our intelligence quotient, or our innovative, problem solving ability, we will all face some figurative “skinny wheel bike” challenges. As a matter of fact, there is something we will face today, tomorrow, soon after, or in the distant future, a “skinny-wheel bike: challenge that we will have to champion over. Like David, we cannot give up. Like the son in the paragraph above, we cannot give up. Feel blessed and fearless when you face your “skinny-wheel bike challenge,” blessed and without fear, just by knowing that you have some Help to let you come out more than a conqueror. Let the Lord take charge of your battle!
Have a great day! Ride through this day with confidence that nothing, no “skinny-wheel bike” obstacle or opposition is going to overcome you. Ride on in faith, believing you will come out as the winner. Let me remind you again, God is on your side. Have a great Wednesday! Be blessed!
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 NKJV)
