Many of you know that my younger brother, now absent from the body, but at home with the Lord, he played bass for many well-known groups, including “The Spinners.” One of the group’s best-selling recordings, is titled “I’ll Be Around.” It includes these lyrics, “Whenever you call me, I’ll be there. Whenever you want me, I’ll be there. Whenever you need me, I’ll be there.”
Recently, after hearing this song, one that is so good that I believe it will be heard for generations to come, I thought of grandmothers and their love for their children. I call these grandmothers “Super Nanas.” My dubbing them such is based on my real-life experience. Let me explain. Whenever my children request my wife’s presence, she immediately starts booking flights, making arrangements to work remotely, and packing a large suitcase. Really, I think she has spent over a month at one of their homes helping with the grandchildren or just enjoying her presence. It seems like the words to the aforementioned group are applicable, “Whenever you call me, I’ll be there. Whenever you want me, I’ll be there. Whenever you need me, I’ll be there, I’ll be around.” The Spinners were at the top in their day. Super-Nanas will forever rate near the top in the hierarchy of families. Smile, because you know I am right about it!
Well, there is one more Person mentioned in the title above, “The Supreme.” Listen to what He has to say to you today. “Let the giving of thanks be your sacrifice to God, and give the Almighty all that you promised. Call to me when trouble comes; I will save you, and you will praise me.(Psalm 50:14-15 Good News Translation).” In another place, The Supreme, God, He says this specifically to you on the first day of November 2025 to give you hope and assurance, if needed now or in the future, “When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen (Jeremiah 29:12 The Message Bible).”
May today’s meditation moves you to call on the Lord more! As the songwriter says, my fellow believer, “Call on the Lord! Call on the Lord! Call on the Lord and get an answer.” Have a great day and stay God-conscious and Christ centered. Be blessed!
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18 NIV)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
These daily meditations are all wonderful. I hear that you may stop. Is that so you can compile them all in your next book. Then we could read them over and over. I know there are plenty, considering the years you have written. Just food for thought.
Thank You so much for your time invested in our growth!
Thanks for your feedback and kind words Rochelle. My original plan was to stop at the end of the year. There is enough to compile a couple of books by category, but we will see. It has been suggested that I either continue until I can’t or at least once a week. Pray that the Lord leads me to do what He wants done. Be blessed!
Amen, I am always reminded by the Holy Spirit we might be far from the Lord, but He is closer to us then we think we just need to keep praying and listen for His instruction and direction for our life, I agree with the young that comment about the book , You never know what God is up to, unitl it’s done. Thank you for always give us a morning boost everyday… Be Blessed.
LT are you an angel that is supposed to convince me to continue until I can’t? Smile! Thank you for your response. It is good to know that I am serving a purpose in the kingdom.
He is Supreme. He’s there whether I call on Him or not. The good news is that He’s there when I do call Him. It’s because of Him that I live. It’s because of Him that I’m able to be a super “Nana”.
You are a Super Nana, enabled to be so by the Spirit of the Lord Who dwells in you! And you are right, He’s there regardless. As believers we need to take advantage of His accessibility and approachability. We can bold approach the throne of grace. Thank you, Dr. G. for your reflecting response. Be blessed!
