THE WAIT

“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait- all-the day.” (Psalm 25:5 NASB)

As you have noticed, lately the daily meditations have been characterized by brevity.  That’s not because of the holiday season.  And it is not because of a decline in my faithfulness.  I do strive to minister to many, and in doing so, the Lord speaks to me in my situation.  Right now, being transparent with you, I am waiting for my prayers to be answered for a recovery from a medical procedure last week, a speedy recuperation, a sensational, rapid return to what medical personnel call my “baseline” of physical functioning to be able to be back to “normal.”  Well, seven days later and I am still waiting for the Lord.  Even though I am like you, wanting things right away, I have learned to wait for the Lord all-the- day; wait for the Almighty in the times where things go an alternate way, for the time.  My hurting is real, but that has not stopped my hoping.  My results have not been given, but that has not resulted in me trusting in the Lord.

Many things have occurred this week that have not robber my belief that everything will be alright.  Sometimes you just have to wait on the Lord, for whatever purpose He has in mind,  For instance, the Assistant to the Pastor preached a dynamic word on Sunday.  The preacher was my oldest son.  I watched virtually at home.  Recently I had wanted a new coat, and guess what happened?  I two coats, presented as gifts by family members; coats that you would find in men’s fashion magazines.  There’s more!  As a child I grew up as a Yankee fan, and hoped one day to see the like of a Yogi Berra, a Mickey Mantle, and a Roger Maris.  Many years and several decades have passed.  But this Christmas, I received an invitation to go to the opening game in New York at Yankee Stadium, all expenses paid.  Come on somebody!  Isn’t the Lord good?  Isn’t what you say true, that “He may not come when you want Him to, but when He does, He will be right on time.  Go ahead and give God and early shout out of praise.

Let me share one more happening this week that reinforced the mindset that I should have during, “The Wait.”  My sister sent me a quote from one of our Mother’s best authors, Joyce Meyer.  Mom, a teacher in the church since I could remember, even stepping in to help with Sunday School when we visited Granddaddy’s church.  She taught by word, by applying the word to our lives, and by living through her own “wait time.”  It is easy to see how my sister was able to pull this piece of wisdom out of Mom’s favorite author.  Can I share the quote with you?  Perhaps it will help you when you go through “The Wait.”  And as you read remember what the preacher said Sunday, “He’s Able!”  Here are the words which substantiate that she is praying for me, and sustains my belief about “The Wait.”

We must never get tired of praying for our loved one, because sometimes God works suddenly, and sometimes He works over a period of time.”

I hope my sharing will benefit you on your journey through life.  Have a great Day and of course…be blessed!

“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.  Do not fret…” (Psalm 37: 7a NASB)

Still committed to the climb,
