TODAY

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” – (Mother Teresa)

This is your Monday Short meditation and even though this is a brief message, I want you to think long and hard about what I am about to write. The words are few, but the weight of these words is heavy.

How many times have we procrastinated, postponed, put off doing something; something that is right, and it is something we know we should be doing?  How many times have we denied any failing on our part to do something that God holds us accountable to do, defending our inactivity with just about every type of justification to mitigate any sense of accountability; making mouthing excuses, and manifesting explanations that really are inexcusable and cannot be explained in a way the Lord would deem acceptable?

Think about the quote above. Search your being, seek out what you should do, do better, or do more, starting today. That way you can skip saying, “I thought about it,” or “I wish I hadn’t waited until it was too late.” Look! Only you know what you need to do today. So, do it before the opportunity to do what is right and expected by the righteous One, disappears much like the light of day gives way to the darkness of night. Be blessed!

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” (James 4:17 NIV)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King

  1. My constant question to the Lord in my early morning prayer is, “What can I do for you today, Lord?” Maybe I don’t wait long enough to hear the response, Yet, I do know that He wants me to show the love of Christ to others in all that I do. I will keep asking, and do a better job of listening.
