“God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains.” (Psalm 46:1-3 MSG)
There are some people who seem to never change. There are those older folks blessed with special youth preserving genes and may still look nearly the same. There are also people who have never changed in terms of their personality, their sense of humor they possess, their ability to converse on any subject with thoughts they pull out of an non-expired, seemingly none ending well of wisdom, and last but not least, their faith in God.
If you want to know how people possess a never-ending well of wisdom, perhaps you should go ask those who debate at barbershops and beauty salons. There you will find some folks that know everything about anything. So they think.
A laugh comes after the previous sentence. But now, let’s get serious. How does a person in theses changing times remain unchanged when it comes to faith? First of all they recognize that God is Sovereign, Supreme, and when it comes to comparing to any type of surge; a term we hear often these days, God’s surging love of has never stopped. Second, realize that God is their safe place; yes the same place described by the Psalmist in the paraphrased verses above. Third, they depend on the Divine during all circumstances. They follow the directive from Scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Fourth, these unchanged people know that the Lord is true to His word and He has told us “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 NKJV).” I could go on, but let me just give you two more explanations, since I know it’s Sunday morning and you are about to get ready to be fed with spiritual manna from on high. A fifth reason some people can stay unchanged in changing times is because nothing can separate them from the love of God in Christ Jesus. This is what the Apostle Paul wrote as inspired by God: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39 NKJV).” Our sixth reason is also provided by Paul in Philippians 4:12-13 (Amplified Bible), “I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”
I have been writing about some specific people; certain individuals, believers who are not changed in regards to their faith in the midst of changing times. Now I must give you a charge to carry out: “You be one of the “some” who are unchanged, unhinged, un-moveable, and unaffected by the changing things in this world.” Continue through these changing times to walk by faith and not by sight. Benefit from the word that is given to you today! Be blessed!
“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].” (I Corinthians 15:58 Amplified Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
