“Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NASB)
Val is a young lady with many gifts. At church she leads the education ministry, teaches Sunday School, sings in the choir, humbles herself and finds time to clean the church, establishes rapport and maintains relationships with the young church members who are in danger of drifting away. She does a lot. She writes a blog to inspire others and composes spiritual, edifying and comporting prose.
On top of all this, Val loves to search for finds at the thrift store and when she finds them, home décor items mostly. She refurbishes them, renews them, or repurposes them. Val’s latest project was to take a table she had purchased, a table that had been cast aside and donated to a local thrift store. The previous owner obviously had not seen any value in the table, given up hope in regards to its usefulness, and considered its days done. Not Val! She purchased the discarded table and took all the steps to make it into a beautiful piece that can be an eye-catching, focal point of a room.
When I used to do the trash to treasure, décor project hobby, I simply would paint over the surface of the item. That was not the case with Val’s project. She labored to give it new life. She sanded it, painted it, added some decorative, creative artwork on the top of the table. And to protect it, she sealed it. When I would fail to seal my projects, the paint I had applied came off easily, and the item did not reach its beauty potential. Val’s project, this once old table that now had been given new life, her sealing process would protect it for a long time. Recently, Val sent me a picture of the table via a text message. I marveled at her work and responded to her text by applauding the great work she had done. She replied back, “There is one more thing that I want to do with the table.”
Think about this my friend. God took us, transformed us from trash to treasure, when we gave our life to Christ. He not only established us in Christ, but He anointed us, sealed us by giving us the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts. Thank God for the sealing. For you see, the Holy Spirit, among other things He will protect us. And think about this a little more. We were dead in our sins, on track to be discarded in Hell for an eternity. But God, don’t you like those two words, “But God?” But God, after sealing us for the ultimate day of redemption, while we are here on this earth, like with Val’s project, He continues to work on us constantly. It is as He is saying, “There is one more thing that I want to do with my project,” speaking of every believer. God tends to us, His projects, daily. Can’t you tell?
Rejoice this Saturday morning! Realize that the Lord is not through with you yet! Oh, I am sure about it! The closing Scripture definitely makes me sure about Him not being finished working on us! Take a look at the Scripture below! One more thing! Don’t forget to attend church tomorrow. The Lord wants to work on you, one of His most beloved, special, precious projects. Enjoy your day! Look forward to tomorrow! Be blessed!
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.” (Matthew 5:14-16 The Message Bible)
