“The Scriptures say, “If you hear his voice today, don’t be stubborn like those who rebelled.” (Hebrews 3:15 Contemporary English Version)
My friend, be God-conscious, and of course, be conscious of what God says. With that being said, let me proceed.
Unexpectedly I stumbled upon a treasure at the thrift store that was of great value. No it was not like the ancient Roman bust that someone recently found, as reported on the local news. The treasure I found was not an original piece of abstract art by a famous picture. And I did not discover a money clip with a wad of money in a pocket of a donated jacket. My treasure was nothing like that, but it was of great value, and it could be considered as a “vintage” find.
Let me tell you what I stumbled upon Thursday morning. I was on an errand to a UPS store, but the thrift store in the same strip mall seemed to be calling my name. I enter the store and go directly to the furniture section in search of a specific type of floor lamp. As I was looking, I hear an older gentleman in the same area asking a store employee if it was the twenty percent off day for seniors. He was one day off. The employee let him know that Wednesday is the day for the special senior discount. The older gentleman, yes older than me, turns to talk to me and says, “I was in here Monday and saw a chair I really wanted, but I decided to wait to get a great deal on the senior discount day.” He goes on to say, “I guess it’s true! When you see what you want, you should get it right then.” Now this is where the vintage treasure comes in. He says, “The older folks used to tell me when I was young about this very thing. They used an analogy, “If you are driving down the street and you see an attractive lady you would like to get to know, don’t go around the block. Somebody else will have beaten you to the punch before you get back and she will miss out.” Before turning back around to exit the store, the man says to me, “Be blessed!” How nice! Well let me bless you on this Saturday morning with something older than the vintage treasure, the advice that the man shared with me. Recognize first that what I am about to share is wisdom that originated before the older individual in the senior customer story, and it has great worth.
As you read God’s word today and when you hear the preached word tomorrow, a great treasure from God’s word will be shared with you. When you see it with your eyes and/or hear it with your ears, grab hold of it immediately, take it with you right away, and apply it in your living immediately. That’s the right thing to do whenever the Lord puts a treasure from His word in front of you. Don’t wait for what you might think is a better time! Don’t wait until tomorrow. Don’t miss out on the specific word that the Lord has for you to enhance your spiritual development and equip you to have success, living like a child of God on your sanctification journey! Let me say it again, “someone else” (the devil) may snatch it up and you will miss out on what was intended to make you better, put you in a better mind in your space, or take you to a better place; higher and higher! “Don’t wait for what you might think is a better time!” Now let the inspiration from the vintage thrift store treasure I received bless you to experience salvation beyond being saved from the penalty of sin by grace through your faith. Experience salvation in the sense that you can be saved from the power of sin in this life. It can happen. He that began a good work in you can perfect it! The vintage treasure is yours for the taking! Take it! Have a wonderful day! Be blessed!
“The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved.” (Luke 5:12 NLT)
Still committed to the climb,
