WE ALL DO IT!

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.” (Psalm 34:1-2 KJV)

Yes, we all do it!  We tell our electronic device to play one of those old non-church tunes from back in time, the ones you dance to, either in public or private; the ones which take you back to the good old days; the ones that generate good memories!  Come on, tell the truth!  We all do it!

Yesterday morning I asked my device to play a song that I heard on a visit to the west coast and had an opportunity to watch one of my grandchildren’s favorite videos, “Sing.”  I think my granddaughter and her father knew every word to every song on the soundtrack.  Of course the cartoon characters’ voices are the voices of celebrity crooners.  The one I was playing was “Don’t You Worry ‘bout A Thing.”  The character in the movie was an elephant named Meena.  She literally and figuratively tore up the stage.  The celebrity responsible for the lyrics was Tori Kelly.  Ask your electronic device to play that exact same song this morning and see if you are not inspired and immediately put in a better state of mind.  I was playing it while doing the morning dishes, but I’m telling you I could have won the “stationary” dance talent show yesterday!  Listen to it!

The holiday season, the horrific impact of the pandemic; the prevailing, tragic effects of climate change evident across the world, and the prices of everyday needs just might cause people to worry.  Some are worried about how to cover the cost of Christmas.  Some are worried about their loved ones who must travel on the streets in the midst of terror and a terrible environment where traffic laws are ignored by many people.  Some are worried about life in general and some, longevity specifically.  Jesus gave us some advice: “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”  He was referring to our caring God who will compassionately provide us with food, clothing, and shelter.  We just have to do the seeking and He will do the supplying.  Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing.  Jesus also said, “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does.  Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”  Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing.

Think on the verses above and below.  Pray that the Holy Spirit brings to your remembrance other Scriptures that will ease, and prayerfully, eliminate your worrying.  One more thing, listen to the song, the jam, the flaming recording that I referred to above.  You are going to feel great!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!  Be blessed!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (Philippians 4: 4 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,
