WE ALL NEED A LITTLE MORE JESUS!

And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.” (Mark 8:22-25 KJV)

Several years ago, I preached a sermon at a nearby church with the exact title you just read.  My message, abbreviated as it might be today, is still the same. You see, just like the man in the text above, all of us need a little more Jesus. Whether you are a layperson or a leader, you need a little more Jesus. Whether you sit in the pew or the pulpit, you need a little more Jesus. Whether you are an officer of the church, one who attends often, or one that folks find it odd if you miss one Sunday service during the year, you need a little more Jesus.

Your economic stature, your generation status, or if your condition is one where you are pretty much satisfied, you need a little more Jesus.  Whether folks look at you as good, great, or generally one of the best saints they know, you need a little more Jesus.

When you get a little more Jesus, praise God, you see things clearer.  When you get a little more Jesus, hallelujah, your joy is restored, your hope will not be ignored, and your spiritual sight enlarged.  Let me be frank about it, okay? Since you have not attained perfection, and even if you have made excellent, perfect progress on your Christian journey, you will always need a little more Jesus.

Therefore, I encourage you to have, as they say, “just a closer walk” with the Lord. Now saying that, I am sure you will show up at your church tomorrow to hear the specific message that the Lord will send through a specific messenger, for a specific purpose, specifically for you. Why am I so sure? Because we all need a little more Jesus in this life.  Have a great day!  Be blessed!

“I am weak, but Thou art strong,
Jesus, keep me from all wrong,
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.”

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
