“Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2 Amplified Bible)
I was initially going to name today’s meditation, “Not Confronting, Just Confirming,” but I changed my mind. All will not agree with what I am about to provide you in a few words, taken from the word of God. Hence, I hesitated, thinking I did not want to come across condescending or condemning; definitely not confronting to any reader. But then, I recalled my charge: “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires (2 Timothy 2:2-3).” So, perhaps my initial title was correct after all, and if I am accused of confronting, well yes, I am.
If you search on the web for information about how to meditate, you will find several suggestions. At first it seems like just an investigation, but eventually is leaves an impression that inclines to influence one’s adopted behaviors. It will make it easy for one to pursue those proposed suggestions, and in the midst of popularity or a persuasion to be, as the French would say, “en vogue,” one eventually may embrace them, and see them as valuable for peaceful and right living.
Save yourself some time and pick up that seldom or never used book in your personal library called the Bible. Dust it off if you have used it for decoration as opposed to diligently studying it. Look up the subject you need to be focusing on for your own enrichment, edification, and education; for direction, delight, and a decision to find your peace in the Lord. His word will calm you. You will find something that is profitable, something that will perfect you, and something that will penetrate body, mind, and soul . Meditate on what you find relevant to your life; your challenges, your crisis, your confusion, as well your search for certain understanding. You will find such meditation profitable my friend and you will also be led to live by the admonition and wise advice that says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direction your path (Proverbs 3:5-6).” Sit quietly if you choose to do so. Isolate yourself from others if necessary. Fold your hands any way that you so choose. Cross your legs and close your eyes if you so choose. However, let your meditation be on that which you find in the Scriptures; the word that contains commandments that are righteous. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Be blessed!
“All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]… (2 Timothy 3:16 Amplified Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
