“You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits. Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.” (Ephesians 4:22-24 Contemporary English Version)
The Fashion Starter explains the emergence of clothing trends as follows, “Fashion trends start through a combination of cultural, social media, and key fashion figures.”
While I could write an op-ed that explains how fashion trends are set today, I would definitely address how moral standards have been ignored and more interest is being place on keeping up with what others, peers in the same generational category are doing. Some trends are mistakenly viewed as appropriate and are unfortunately copied. Yes, I would have my opinion in today’s world where modesty has taken on a bare meaning. Uh-huh! That was a play on the word “bare,” but I was not joking.
Yet, instead of addressing fashion trends, I will widen the scope to go beyond apparel and clothes and speak to the outfit of Christian character in general. Of course, attire would be included. Let me just shut up and let the Lord speak to you through the passages above and below. How you respond to what the Lord has to say is entirely up to you. However, I hope you respond in such a way that you will make it a point to start some new trends; trends that radiate in the color of righteousness, Christlikeness, and holiness. I’m done! You don’t have to go by my word. Read THE word! Be blessed!
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” (Romans 13:14 NASB)
