WHAT HAPPENED WAS…

See if what I am about to tell you is not true, at least most of the time, when you ask someone, “What happened?”  Instead of an explanation you get some excuse making, and words of justification for what took place. It starts with these words, “What happened was…”  When you hear it, get ready for the excuse that follows, that is, most of the time.

This effort to exonerate self from accountability or a reluctance to point the finger inward instead of outward, well, that technique is not something that came up in the recent generations. Its origin is not tied into street vocabulary and slang-like verbalization. Yes, it is an often-used contemporary saying. I will give you that, my friend. However, the expression is really just modified phraseology that has roots that go back as far as the Garden of Eden. Check it out in the verses below. And after checking the scriptures out, be sure to put a check on that phrase before you freely let those same words escape your tongue, serving as a prelude to a “perfect excuse.” Exam yourself first to see if you are taking individual accountability, like Adam should have done. Have a great day! Yes, this was short, but surely meaningful!  Have a great day!  Love you! Be blessed!

“God called to the Man: ‘Where are you?’ He said, ‘I heard you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked. And I hid.’ God said, ‘Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from that tree I told you not to eat from?’ The Man said, ‘The Woman you gave me as a companion, she gave me fruit from the tree, and, yes, I ate it.’” (Genesis 3:9-12 The Message Bible)
