WHAT’S MISSING?

When I was hired at a local TV station to be the “Film Librarian,” I was trained by the person who had been promoted to the print shop. While learning how to ship movies and films to other stations in the country, either by air or rail, we took the time to get to know each other. I was 17 years old, and he was 27. Disregarding the age difference, to keep our dialogue going I asked this individual who wanted me to recognize his knowledge and perhaps even superiority or seniority, where he went to high school. He shared where he attended for a couple of years, but openly admitted he never graduated. The next year I helped him earn his G.E.D. to address the missing secondary education diploma. But a high school education was not all that was missing. You see, when I asked him to describe his daily routine, seeking to know how he worked through the eight-hour workday schedule, enduring that he never missed deadlines, unexpectedly he answered me by sharing his personal morning routine.

Included was his “morning constitution,” his morning coffee, and his morning consumption of an overflowing plate of biscuits and gravy, and finally coming to work. Not that I needed to hear all that, I detected, even at an early age that something was missing! Do you know what’s missing? Good answer! Was the same thing missing in your morning routine? If you quickly said, “No,” that’s great! You have the same routine as the Psalmist below. Again, “That’s great!” Have a terrific Tuesday! Be blessed!

“O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.” (Psalm 5:3 ESV)

Committed to the climb,
