WHEN YOUR PERSISTENT PRAYING PAYS OFF

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 NIV)

My granddaughter called me Tuesday night and informed me that she got the job for which she was praying. She got a job at a location just 15 minutes from her home near the downtown area of a major city. No long commute would be necessary. And listen, not only did she inform me about her job, a perfect match for her hard work in earning a Master’s degree in Human Science; not only did she tell me I could tell others I have a grandchild who is a Reproductive Scientist; not only was she beaming about the fact that she did not have to take a job that was not associated with her advanced training and patiently wait longer for an open door; not only did she share a funny story of how her neighbors must have wondered what was going on as she shouted with unrestrained joy in her apartment, but she also expressed her thanks for me continuing to pray for her as her job search unfolded to a perfect start.

She also said that she was appreciative of all who were persistently praying for her to find the perfect job for the particular time on her career journey. Much prayer, much power.  Oh, of course she did not leave out the fact that she was personally persistent in praying for the Lord to open a door for her. Praise God!  For He did not just open any door, but He opened a wide door that will lead to even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.

Although, admittedly, this is a proud moment for Pawpaw, yours truly, but that’s not the primary point I want to make. You see, the primary point I want you to take away from what you are reading this morning is that when your persistence in praying pays off, share the blessed outcome with others, much like David did in the closing verses from a familiar Psalm. Share how the Lord answered your prayers. By sharing how the Lord heard you and moved at the perfect time; by sharing how He dismissed the natural human anxiety that burdens one while one is waiting in faith for the Lord to move; by sharing you will encourage someone else to pray. Furthermore, by sharing, you will validate that the Lord will hear your cry, and He will, as we say, “He will answer by and by.”

Remain in prayer, my friend! And remember today’s point! Be sure to point to heaven as you provide someone with your testimony that points to the fact that our God indeed answers the prayers of His people. Have a great day! Be blessed!

“I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; He saved me from all my troubles.” (Psalm 34:4-6 NLT)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King

P.S. The tee-shirt still applies. “I’m a writer.  Watch what you do or say, I might just write about it.” Smile!
